June 27, 2018
U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Senator,
You will soon consider H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge to support the following amendments:
The amendment offered by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) to reduce the crop insurance premium subsidy by 15 percent for farmers with an average adjusted gross income more than $700,000.
The amendment offered by Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) to modernize and reform the sugar program by removing barriers to domestic production and implementing market reforms.
The amendment offered by Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) to improve transparency, competition, and efficiency regarding agricultural commodity research and promotion programs, commonly known as checkoff programs.
All votes on these amendments will be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2018 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
