CCAGW Urges Senate to Support H.R. 4 | Council For Citizens Against Government Waste

CCAGW Urges Senate to Support H.R. 4

Letters to Officials

July 16, 2025

U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Senator,

On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to vote in favor of H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, which is being considered in the Senate.

This legislation will save taxpayers $9 billion by eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement, including $1.1 billion for the Corporation of Public Broadcasting, which funds the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR), and $7.9 billion in funding for international organizations and aid programs.  CAGW called for the elimination of federal funds for PBS and NPR and cuts to international organizations and programs in its 2024 Prime Cuts.  The report identifies 539 recommendations that would save taxpayers $377 billion in one year and $5.1 trillion over five years, all of which should be considered for future rescissions packages.

H.R. 4 will curb nonessential expenditures, save taxpayer money, and lay the foundation for both additional rescissions and the elimination of waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the fiscal year 2026 appropriations bills.  For these reasons, I urge you to vote in favor of the Rescissions Act of 2025.  All votes related to this legislation may be among those considered for CCAGW’s 2025 Congressional Ratings.

Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
