(Washington, D.C.) The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) today released the following statement by President Tom Schatz in response to the introduction of H.R. 4225 by Representative Lamar Smith (R-Texas) to amend section 211 of the 1999 Omnibus Appropriations Act:

“While the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is pleased that those who created this five-year-old special interest law have been forced to step out from the shadows and allow some transparency into the process, we are very disappointed that the supporters of Section 211 are engaged in yet another attempt to prop up the commercial interests of a single Bermudan corporation at the expense of hundreds of American companies.  That is what H.R. 4225 does. It’s like déjà vu all over again.”

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is the lobbying arm of Citizens Against Government Waste, the nation's largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
