Vote YES to H.R. 998
Letters to Officials
February 28, 2017
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Representative,
You will soon consider H.R. 998, the Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome (SCRUB) Act. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support this legislation.
H.R. 998 provides for the establishment of the Retrospective Regulatory Review Commission, which would identify excessive, duplicative, or burdensome regulations for repeal. H.R. 998 prioritizes the examination of major rules that are more than 15 years old and sets a goal of a 15 percent reduction in the economic cost of regulations. Congress will have the opportunity to vote on the commission’s recommendations.
H.R. 998 is a critical step in reducing the $2 trillion annual cost of regulations. All votes on H.R. 998 will be among those considered for CCAGW’s 2017 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
