U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Representative,
You will soon consider H.R. 5063, the Stop Settlement Slush Funds Act of 2016. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the bill, as well as the following amendments:
Rep. Paul Gosar’s (R-Ariz.) amendment that would cap settlement payments for attorney fees provided in relation to environmental cases at $125 per hour.
Rep. Tom Price’s (R-Ga.) amendment that would require the head of each federal agency to electronically submit a report to the Congressional Budget Office on each settlement agreement that directs funds to outside entities.
Rep. Price’s amendment that would require the Inspector General of each federal agency to annually report to the House and Senate Committees on the Budget, the Judiciary, and Appropriations on any settlement agreements that violate section two and direct funds to another entity other than the United States.
All votes on H.R. 5063 will be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2016 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
