Vote 'YES' on Amendments to H.R. 4660

Letters to Officials

May 28, 2014
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Representative,

You are currently considering H.R. 4660, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2015.  On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the following amendments:

  • Rep. Mike Pompeo’s (R-Kan.) amendment, which would eliminate the Economic Development Administration and transfer the savings to deficit reduction.  According to 2013 Prime Cuts, eliminating EDA would save $293 million in the first year and $1.47 billion over five years.
  • Rep. Jim Bridenstine’s (R- Okla.) amendment, which would prohibit funds in the bill from being used for the National Technical Information Service.
  • Rep. Bridenstine’s amendment, which would prohibit funds from being used by the Census Bureau to enforce any penalty against any individual who refuses or willfully neglects to answer questions in connection with the American Community Survey.

All votes on H.R. 4660 will be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2014 Congressional Ratings.

Sincerely,

Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
