Support the Senate-Passed H. Con. Res. 71
Letters to Officials
October 25, 2017
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Representative,
Tomorrow you will consider H. Con. Res. 71, the fiscal year (FY) 2018 budget resolution, as amended and passed by the Senate. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to vote in favor of the Senate-passed budget resolution with reconciliation instructions so that comprehensive, pro-growth tax reform can be enacted by Congress.
On September 27, 2017, the Unified Framework for tax reform was released. It presents an historic opportunity to unleash the economic potential of the American people and serves as a guide to the drafting and markup of legislation in the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees. If the plan is enacted, Americans will get to keep more of their own money, filing taxes will be far simpler, and small businesses will be able to boost wages and create jobs.
While Congress is well-positioned to enact tax reform, that cannot occur until a budget resolution with reconciliation instructions is adopted. All votes on H. Con. Res. 71 will be among those considered for CCAGW’s 2017 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
