CCAGW Vote Alert: Amendments to H.R. 8
Letters to Officials
June 6, 2018
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Representative,
You will soon consider H.R. 8, the Water Resources Development Act of 2018. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the following amendments to H.R. 8:
Rep. Steve Pearce’s (R-N.M.) amendment to require the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to pay back the Federal cost share for projects carried out under section 593 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1999 in the next fiscal year.
The amendment offered by Reps. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.), John Delaney (D-Md.), and Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) to ensure timely payback for advanced funds paid for by a non-federal sponsor.
Rep. Mark Meadow’s (R-N.C.) amendment to prioritize the operation, maintenance, and improvement of existing infrastructure.
Rep. Clay Higgins’ (R-La.) amendment to direct the Secretary to prefer acquiring the minimum interest necessary in real property needed to support a project or action. Requires consideration of the use of a temporary easement estate or other interests designed to reduce overall costs, reduce project time, and minimize conflict with property owners related to such project or action.
All votes on H.R. 8 will be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2018 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
