(Washington, D.C.) The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) announced today the creation of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) in an effort to influence the outcome of elections to public office as part of the organization’s mission to promote fiscal responsibility and eliminate waste, fraud and abuse at all levels of the federal government.

“The CCAGW PAC will provide a new weapon in the fight against wasteful spending,” CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz said.  “Through the use of CCAGW PAC, we will be able to support candidates that share the views of our membership.  As a result, we will closely monitor voting records and review candidate questionnaires to determine which candidates will best represent the taxpayers.”

CCAGW PAC is dedicated to the nomination and election of candidates for elective public office who will promote prudent fiscal policies and accountable government.  It is a voluntary, nonprofit, unincorporated, political committee that is connected to CCAGW.

“With a projected federal deficit of $480 billion, there has never been more of a need for a political action committee that represents the interests of all taxpayers.  CCAGW PAC will take an active role in the 2004 elections and beyond to elect candidates with taxpayer-friendly agendas,” Schatz concluded.

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is the lobbying arm of Citizens Against Government Waste, the nation's largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
