(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) praised the House for once again passing Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and urged the Senate to pass TPA without delay.

TPA is essential for securing trade agreements that will create more jobs and boost wages, while ensuring that the United States is crafting the rules and continuing its leadership role in the global economy.  Without TPA, securing any major trade agreements would be a steep uphill climb, virtually ensuring that the U.S. will be left in a far less advantageous position at the trade negotiating table.

CCAGW worked diligently to lobby members of both parties to support TPA and is pleased that the effort paid off for a second time in the House.

CCAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Now that the House has acted, it is time for the Senate to do the same, so that America’s markets may remain open and vibrant for years to come.”

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is the lobbying arm of the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
