May 14, 2013
U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Senator:

On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the following amendments currently considering S. 601, the Water Resources Development Act, which is currently under your consideration:

  • Amendment No. 814, offered by Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), and John McCain (R-Ariz.), which would reduce federal subsidies for ongoing beach renourishment.
  • Amendment No. 815, offered by Sens. Tom Coburn, Jeff Flake, and John McCain, which would stop federal subsidies for ongoing beach renourishment from being extended to 65 years.
  • Amendment No. 816, offered by Sens. Tom Coburn, Claire McCaskill (R-Mo.) and John McCain, which would remove restrictions on projects the infrastructure deauthorization commission may consider.
  • Amendment No. 823, offered by Sens. Tom Coburn and John McCain, which would ensure environmental infrastructure activities are not exempt from review by the infrastructure deauthorization commission.

Lawmakers should support efforts to increase the scrutiny, transparency, and efficiency of all spending on federal water projects. All votes on S. 601 will be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2013 Congressional Ratings.

Sincerely,

Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
