Support Ajit Pai for FCC Chair

September 28, 2017

U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C.  20510

Dear Senator,

You will soon consider the nomination of the Honorable Ajit Varadaraj Pai of Kansas to be a Member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to vote to confirm Mr. Pai.

As chairman of the FCC, Mr. Pai has undertaken several initiatives to improve communications policy, including efforts to close the digital divide; promote innovation; protect consumers and public safety; and, reform the FCC’s processes.

As the current FCC chairman, he has taken steps to improve the Mobility Fund; expand the ability for broadcasters, cable operators, internet providers, and wireless and wireline companies to innovate; protect consumers from robocalls; and increase transparency within the rulemaking process.  In addition, he has led by example of how a bipartisan agency should work, traveling to hurricane-ravaged regions of the country with his Democratic colleague, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, to ensure communications are quickly restored.

Mr. Pai is the right choice to lead the FCC.  He will use every tool at his disposal to bridge the digital divide in America, improve efficiency and transparency, and continue to move the nation’s telecommunications policies forward.  All votes on Mr. Pai’s confirmation will be among those considered for CCAGW’s 2017 Congressional Ratings.
