CCAGW Vote Alert: Support Amendment 7 to H.R. 3494 | Council For Citizens Against Government Waste

CCAGW Vote Alert: Support Amendment 7 to H.R. 3494

July 16, 2019

U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Representative,

On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support Reps. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) and Jeff Duncan’s (R-S.C.) Amendment No. 7 to H.R. 3494, the Intelligence Reauthorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020.
Amendment No. 7 eliminates waste in the federal government by striking section 401 of the bill, which would establish the Climate Security Advisory Council under the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

The Climate Security Advisory Council would direct the intelligence community to incorporate the effects of global warming into their intelligence analysis. Such an advisory council is unnecessary, because intelligence analysts already address a range of issues related to the quantity, quality, and reliability of the information on which their assessments must rest. Mandating that global warming be considered as a factor of data process would add an unneeded layer of difficulty that could inhibit the completion of time-sensitive analysis.

Congress should not play politics with our national security.

Again, I urge you to support Amendment No. 7 by Reps. Chabot and Duncan.

Thank for your consideration. If you have any questions, please reach out to CCAGW Government Affairs Director Allen Johnson at
