Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Representative,
You will soon be considering H.R. 4820, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the following amendments to H.R. 4820.
Amendment #15, offered by Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.), which prohibits the use of funds to promulgate new major rules if OMB determines that the regulation is likely to result in a significant impact on the economy, a major increase in prices for consumers, or adverse effects on American global competition.
Amendment #21, offered by Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas), Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), and Josh Brecheen (R-Okla.), which prohibits funds from being used to implement any of President Biden’s executive orders on climate change.
Amendment #45, offered by Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wisc.), which reduces funding for the community development block grant program by 50 percent.
Amendment #58, offered by Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), which prohibits funds from being used to finalize any rule or regulation that has resulted in or is likely to result in an annual effect on the economy of $100 million or more.
Amendment #63, offered by Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.), which reduces Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Appropriations for FY24 by $4,953,400,000 in order to get total spending closer to FY22 levels.
Amendment #71, offered by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.), which reduces each discretionary account in the bill by 0.8 percent.
Amendment #75, offered by Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), which eliminates funding for Capital Investment Grants.
Amendment #84, offered by Reps. Bob Good (R-Va.), Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), and Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.), which would ensure none of the funds made available by this act may be used to implement, administer, or enforce the Davis-Bacon Act.
Amendment #125, offered by Rep. David Schweikert, which makes a 57 percent reduction on each amount of discretionary budget authority offered by the bill.
Amendment #163, offered by Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), which reduces total funding to match FY19 levels.
Amendment #166, offered by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Lou Correa (D-Calif.), which prohibits any funds from being used to conduct a competition analysis of mergers.
Thank you for your consideration of our views on H.R. 4821. All votes related to this bill may be among those considered for CCAGW’s 2023 Congressional Ratings.
Sincerely,
Tom Schatz
President, CCAGW
