March 9, 2021

U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Representative,

You will soon begin voting on H.R. 842, the Protecting Right to Organize Act, 2021 (PRO Act).  On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I urge you to support the following amendments:

Amendment 2 by Reps. Rick Allen (R-Ga.) and Ben Cline (R-Va.), which strikes Section 111 in the bill, which overturns state right-to-work laws.

Amendment 5 by Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Wis.), which requires labor organizations to receive express consent from the employee before using his or her union dues for any purpose that is not directly related to the labor organization’s collective bargaining or contract administration.

Amendment 8  by Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), which states that the Act may not take effect until the Secretary of Labor certifies that the billwill not have an adverse impact on employment rates in the United States.

Amendment 19 by Reps. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), Rick Allen (R-Ga.), Louis Gohmert (R-Texas), Michael Burgess (R-Texas), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Ben Cline (R-Va.), Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), Tom McClintock (R-Calif.), Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), William Timmons (R-S.C.), Tracey Mann (R-Kan.), John Rutherford (R-Fla.), Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.), Diana Harshbarger (R-Tenn.), and Thomas Tiffany (R-Wis.), which amends Section 111 to strike current language and insert national right-to-work language erasing automatic dues clauses.

All votes on H.R. 842 may be among those considered in CCAGW’s 2021 Congressional Ratings.
