CCAGW Sends "Biden Trips Badly on Intellectual Property in TRIPS" by Elizabeth Wright to the U.S. Senate

Letters to Officials

May 10, 2021

Dear Senator,

On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I am writing regarding the May 12, 2021 Senate Finance Committee hearing featuring U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, entitled “The President’s 2021 Trade Policy Agenda.”

CCAGW is very troubled by the administration’s recent decision to support a proposed waiver petition request to the World Trade Organization’s Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights or TRIPS, that would turn over U.S. COVID-19 patent rights.  For additional information on our concerns, I am providing you with a link to a May 6 blog from The WasteWatcher which addresses this issue.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact either me or CCAGW Health and Science Director Elizabeth Wright at ewright@cagw.org.  Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
              Thomas A. Schatz
