Those Pesky Obamacare Grandfather Regs and Why We’re All Doomed

Certainly the latest news about Obamacare is how millions of people across the country are losing their health insurance in spite of numerous assurances by President Obama over a period of four-plus years that, “if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period.”  In other words, he was promising all Americans that the health plan they liked and could afford would be “grandfathered” thus avoiding m

We Will Have Those Numbers in November

Oh, and that Obamacare really is working too, in spite of the website’s problems.

Massive Glitches and Monkey Courts

There were fireworks today at the House Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing on the roll out of the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.  The hearing, entitled, “PPACA Implementation Failures: Didn’t Know or Didn’t Disclose?” questioned representatives from the major contractors that constructed the portal or website that is supposed to help individuals enroll in Obamacare.  The witnesses were:

Run Away Run Away!

It is no secret that the Obamacare roll out for its on-line portal to the healthcare exchanges has been a disaster.  Taxpayers are shocked to learn they have paid $394 million (according to a Government Accountability Office report) for a system that has not worked since the Oct 1 opening day.  The Obama Administration throws out numbers such as the website has had 20 million visits and over 500,000 people have filled out

Reality is Starting to Set In

Now that Washington has a temporary reprieve on budget and debt ceiling issues, perhaps the media will focus more on the continuing Obamacare slow-motion train wreck.  It has been largely ignored by the main stream media but the news about the disastrous roll-out is trickling out.

Computer Glitches or Poor Program Management

According to a July 17, 2013 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had obligated $303.4 million (77 percent of its total obligations for Obamacare) to establish the healthcare data hub, provide information technology support for federal employees working on the healthcare exchange, the Healthcare.gov website, and a healthcare call center.  The GAO highlighted that while HHS had met its project schedules and milestones for establishing agreements and developing a data hub, severa

A Government That is Too Big

More and more news reports are surfacing about the overreach by the Obama Administration with regard to the partial government shutdown.  Remember, some 82% of government spending is exempt from the shutdown.  It is the White House that ultimately determines what is essential and stays open and what doesn’t in the federal government.

A Clean CR is a Dirty Rotten Shame

On the October 2nd edition of Fox News Channel’s Special Report, columnist Charles Krauthammer decried the Democrats’ disingenuous insistence on a “clean CR,” implying that such an approach is actually a ratification of failure.  On the one hand, it would underscore the fact that both chambers of Congress had failed in one of their most basic responsibilities:  to fund, one bill at a time and by the end of each fiscal year, the various functions of government.  On the other, and thus betraying the Democrats’ true motivations, it would signal that the Republicans had failed to secure a singl

Obamacare Opening Day – Can You Say Fiasco?

I tried to get information on Obamacare yesterday by logging onto www.healthcare.gov.  The only thing I accomplished was being transferred to my state exchange.  The state website is still experiencing difficulties today so I haven’t been able to find out if the current plan I have (which I pay for out-of-pocket) is more expensive than what I can find in Obamacare.  Apparently, I am not alone according to press reports.  A MSNBC reporter
