(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) praised the U.S. Senate for once again passing Trade Promotion Authority (TPA).

TPA is essential for securing trade agreements that will create more jobs and boost wages, while ensuring that the United States is crafting the rules and continuing its leadership role in the global economy.  Now that Congress has passed TPA, major trade agreements can be secured in a more expeditious fashion.

CCAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Our government relations team and grassroots activities by our members combined to successfully convince members of both parties to support TPA.  We are pleased that these efforts paid off first in the House and now the Senate.  CCAGW is also proud to continue its long-standing tradition of promoting and supporting free trade so that America’s markets may remain open and vibrant for years to come.”

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste is the lobbying arm of the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
